Correspondence from James H. Wilson files. 1862-1911.

Correspondence, mostly from James Wilson's brother Bluford Wilson, regarding the publication of Wilson's book UÌ€nder the Old Flag, Recollections of Military Operations in the War for the Union, the Spanish War, the Boxer Rebellion, etc.', which was published in 2 volumes in New York by Appleton, in 1912. Bluford Wilson, who held the rank of Colonel in the Civil War, assisted General Wilson in writing the book. Collection of letters also includes correspondence with Adjutant General F.E. Ainsworth, with pencil corrections by J. Wilson, concerning Kautz's command of the expedition against the South Side and Danville Railroads, June 22-July 2, 1864; correspondence with Ezra B. Fuller, editor of the U.S. Cavalry Journal concerning an article on "Cavalry Marches", which was being considered for publication. The controversial article was written by an unidentified student of the War College about the Wilson-Kautz raid.
